Nigeria’s entertainment industry in 2013 witnessed loads of high and low moments, loss of eminent entertainers, some grabbed juicy endorsement deals while many others romanced controversy. The year was also witnessed the emergence of fresh talents who gained public acceptance and recognition for their hardwork. This week’s Talkback focuses on how the industry fared during the out gone year. Your favourite entertainers bare their minds on the issue.

GT GuitarmanThe music scene in 2013 saw so many of our artistes getting endorsement deals, international awards e.t.c. While mediocrity still gets a chunk of the cake as hungry radio/TV stations are willing to give airplay to anyone who has money, creativity is relegated to the background and the love of money has taken the centre stage.
Fresh actors emerged!

From my own point of view, Nollywood fared very well in 2013. Our movies are now being shot on high definition, the DVD market is increasing, scripts are now intense. Actors and actresses have improved and we now have a new breed of actors.

My best year
- Collette Orji, Actress
In 2013, the entertainment industry proved beyond all reasonable doubts that it is here to stay. It’s a livelihood and it is absolutely getting better. From comedy, drama, movies to entertainment bloggers and reporters, we all rocked 2013. I think it’s my best year so far.

All hands were on deck
- Yvonne Jegede, Actress
So far, there has been tremendous improvement in every aspect of our movie production ranging from equipment to location, make-up, acting and creativity. During the year under review, we had creative and hard working directors and crew members emerged to make the difference in the industry. Also, with the encouraging competition in the industry, everyone was compelled to come out with his or her best. Besides, when you compare the quality of movies being produced nowadays to those produced before now, you’ll notice great improvement. Though, there is still room for more improvement and creative exploration.
